Nebula Partners was founded in 2011 to become the search firm of choice for our clients, those who we advise on their careers, and our consultants who become partners in our business.

Our History

Founded as a search firm offering long term advice to clients and individuals over the course of their careers. Dedicated to the Tax and Alternative Investment markets, our clients include; Professional Services, Commerce and Industry, Private Equity funds, Family offices, Investment vehicles and broader Financial Services businesses, both nationally and internationally. We’re a diverse group with different skills and professional backgrounds, held together by our core values.

Our leadership team share first-hand experience of the commercial, technical and cultural environment in which our clients operate, many of whom trained in tax and law. Crucially, everyone at Nebula has an in-depth understanding of their market and an authentic relationship lead approach. We are focused on two key areas: Tax and Alternative Investment funds at all levels. We continue to expand out when external need and internal fit perfectly match. For candidates we offer real top down access, and an emphasis on long term outcomes rather than singular assignment transactions.

It starts with trust and on our part that requires patience, honesty and a focus that goes beyond the immediate assignments we are transacting. Having a weight of experience and advisory relationships with key stakeholders in businesses means we access prime opportunities and critically influence their outcomes for your benefit. Our Expertise

The Professional Services tax team at Nebula works closely with clients in Big 4, Top tier and Boutique firms across the UK and Internationally. We have a strong track record helping tax specialists at all levels predominantly in the mid-senior level, ranging from Senior Manager to Partner. Our priority is to establish long term relationships with tax specialists and we pride ourselves on having an extensive knowledge of the market. We have worked on a range of exclusive assignments at all levels in specialisms including; direct tax, international tax, M&A and infrastructure tax, indirect tax and transfer pricing. Our reach extends beyond London and we do a substantial amount of work nationwide and across Europe.

The tax commerce team at Nebula manages a wide variety of mandates for FTSE listed, privately held and overseas multinational clients. This portfolio includes sector indices: technology, consumer, industrials, natural resources, renewable energy, media, pharmaceuticals and healthcare. With a relationship led approach, we understand the culture of our clients and apply this knowledge to all types of search assignments including; direct tax, international tax, transactions tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, employment tax and global mobility. Our reach extends beyond the UK, with senior appointments made in the US, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, UAE, Denmark, Switzerland and Germany.

The Alternative Investments team at Nebula focuses exclusively on helping Alternative Investment funds, Family Offices and other Investment Vehicles hire exceptional Investment and Operational Professionals. We have supported funds across Europe, North America and Asia with their hiring and development and built out whole Investment teams and offices for a number of clients. We partner with organisations where we can add genuine value by creating an open and honest dialogue ensuring our clients hire the very best people. The Alternatives team cover everything from Investment Partners and Principals right down to Associates making their first buy side move. We have exceptional reach into the junior market with no restrictions or hands-off agreements on any of the Investment Banks. We also work with funds looking for COO’s, General Counsel, ESG and broader Senior Management on the Operational side.

The Private Client Tax team focus on search and recruitment within the private client tax, wealth and family office industries. With over 10 years dedicated private client experience the private client team has a detailed knowledge of the private client market and a strong track record in helping experienced private client tax professionals achieve their career goals. We are particularly experienced in helping those who have established themselves within the private client tax industry to develop their careers in the environments they are interested in. Our portfolio bridges big 4 chartered accountancy firms, to mid-tier firms, boutiques, private banks and family offices.

Who We Are

Nebula Partners was founded in 2011 to become the search firm of choice for our clients, those who we advise on their careers, and our consultants who become partners in our business.

Iain Lorriman

Iain founded Nebula in 2011. He has over twenty years of experience advising clients, counselling careers and leadership in Search businesses; making friends along the way!

Iain focuses on offering long term relationships and professional counsel. His networks extend across the senior ends of FS, in all forms, and professional services, encompassing Tax and technically driven specialisms within FS. He is passionate about Nebula partnering with clients in the open, warm, pragmatic and sustainable way in which Nebula treats its own people.

Outside of work Iain’s main devotion is his wife Elspeth and kids who, fortunately, share his loves of skiing, yoga, adventure holidays, travel, time with relatives in Scandinavia and Scotland and caring for the family baby, which is a huge mountain dog. They are all less interested in his passions for mountaineering and chess which he pursues with old friends.

James Couceiro

James is a Principal at Nebula Partners having joined in 2016 and has over 7 years’ experience in tax recruitment. He is responsible for the Professional Services offering at Nebula and works very closely with the Managing Partner to ensure the highest level of service is being given in this area.

James’ core specialist areas are mid-senior level recruitment within M&A Tax, International Tax, Indirect Tax and Financial Services tax. His key clients include Big 4 firms, Top Tier and several market leading boutiques.

He holds a BA in Theology from King’s College London, and prior to entering tax recruitment he pursued legal studies through the GDL and BPTC, passing the Bar in 2011. Outside of work James dedicates the majority of his time to travelling as much as possible.

Charlie Cumber

Charlie joined Nebula in March 2018 to support the recruitment of tax professionals within professional practice across Corporate, International, Transactions and FS tax teams. He partners closely with world leading professional practices, with detailed knowledge of the London and Scottish tax markets.

He graduated from The University of Edinburgh, with a Bachelor of Neuroscience, focusing on the Mechanisms of Brain Development and their impact on Learning and Memory. Using research and data-driven approach, Charlie works hard to perfectly match candidates to roles.

Outside of work, Charlie enjoys travelling the world and volunteering with The Scouts. Occasionally combining both his passions by taking young people on international expeditions. In recent years he has led trips to Iceland, France and Austria.

Greg Dadson

Greg joined Nebula Partners in 2013. He is Partner for Tax Commerce & Transfer Pricing and personally responsible for senior in-house appointments from Head of Tax to Manager.

He began his career in 2000 with a FTSE international recruitment group, progressing to Director. During this time, Greg worked on newly qualified finance recruitment, graduate training and staff management across multiple branches.

Dedicated to in-house tax search since 2009, he has a proven track record of delivering practical recruitment solutions to FTSE, PE backed and multinational corporations. These solutions include retained and multi vacancy campaigns across a wide spectrum of sectors including: Financial Services, Technology, Energy, Mining, Consumer Goods & Services and Industrials.

Greg takes great pride in covering all aspects of a search. His extensive experience enables him to manage the recruitment process effectively, communicating clearly, honestly and in timely fashion with both his clients and candidates. Outside of work Greg spends time with family at various youth football and pony events.

Rebecca Sheehan

Rebecca joined Nebula Partners in 2015 and is responsible for UK domestic and international tax search assignments from Newly Qualified to Head of Tax.

Dedicated to in-house tax search, across all tax disciplines, she has a proven track record of delivering practical recruitment solutions to FTSE, PE backed and multi-national corporations. These solutions include retained and multi-vacancy campaigns and a wide spectrum of sectors including: Technology, Energy, Mining, Consumer and Industrials.

With an academic background in scientific research and analysis she takes pride in matching the right person to the right role. For clients and candidates alike, Rebecca offers a detailed, honest and consultative approach, to establish long term relationships. Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys baking, the gym and travelling.

Alin Brekke

Alin is a part of the Tax Commerce team at Nebula and is responsible for supporting UK domestic and international tax search assignments from Newly Qualified to Senior Manager level. She began her career supporting search and recruitment assignments in the professional services market. Her specialities are in-house tax permanent and interim appointments.

She supports on delivering practical recruitment solutions to FTSE, PE backed and multi-national corporations. These solutions include a wide spectrum of sectors including: Financial Services, Technology, Energy, Mining, Consumer and Industrials.

With a proven background in research and analysis, Alin takes great pride in precisely matching the right person to the right role.

Alin holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Bergen and an MSc in Project Management from Royal Holloway University of London. Outside of work Alin enjoys spending time hiking, skiing and improving her cooking skills.

Orlando Whippy

Orlando is one of the Partners at Nebula and was responsible for setting up the Alternative Investments business in 2016. He began his career in recruitment in 2003 and has been solely focused on working with Investment firms since 2009.

Over the years, his experience, honesty and objectivity has led him to become a trusted advisor to many within the Alternative Investments space. He now spends as much time developing the team and the Consultants as he does with clients – but remains a firmly hands on search partner.

The Alternative Investments team works across all levels from Associate to Partner, across Investment and Operational roles in all areas of Alternative Investments. Orlando’s focus is on mid to senior level Investors and key group operational roles (General Counsel, COO, Head of ESG, Head of Strategy etc)

Orlando spends his weekends enjoying the South Downs and Sussex coast with his family. He will otherwise be found exploring new restaurants or planning a road trip.

Maria Tobolewska

Maria is a Senior Consultant at Nebula within the Alternative Investments team, working within the Large Cap and Mid-Market Funds, partnering with them for their strategic investment hires from Analyst through to Investment Director within the UK and the Nordics.

Maria has been working in search within financial services since 2015, helping clients with hiring objectives, retention plans, research and benchmarking. Maria prefers to take a different approach, believing that open and transparent processes and putting people first make for more successful and longer-term hires.

Apart from a brief hiatus studying for her LLB in Law from Nottingham University, Maria has been a constant Londoner enjoying everything the city has to offer, most importantly food, comedy and theatre anywhere from the Globe through to the latest taco pop-up.

Guy Wickes

Guy is a Senior Consultant at Nebula and part of the Alternative Investments team. He began his recruitment career in 2015 and has always worked on buy-side opportunities.

Guy is one of the leading head-hunters within the Venture Capital, Growth Equity and Mid-Market Investment spaces. He has operated within this niche since early 2016. At first, however, he worked with a variety of funds: Venture Capital, Growth Equity, Mid-Cap, Large-Cap, Family Offices, Pension Funds and Debt/Mezz Funds.

London-based roles are his bread and butter; though he has made numerous placements across Europe. He also has a considerable track record with Africa-based funds. He enjoyed the challenge of diversifying his network and, after placing into one of the premier funds, went on to place into South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Mauritius.

Outside of work, Guy is a keen sportsman, an impressive gamer and a music guru.

Paul Dunne

Paul joined Nebula Partners in 2012, specialising in search and recruitment in the private client tax industry. With over 10 years of dedicated private client tax market experience, Paul has extensive networks across the private client tax community and is widely regarded as one of the leading private client tax search consultant in the industry.

Paul has a lengthy track record of delivering focussed results for big 4 chartered accountancy firms, mid-tier and specialist boutiques, single and multi-family offices, as well as private banks and private wealth management firms.

For the individual, Paul offers a detailed, honest and confidential consultancy approach, building long term relationships that bridge the course of a career.

Emmanuelle Delnord

Emmanuelle is a Consultant at Nebula and is part of the Alternative Investments team. Her focus is on working with Investment firms and Family offices, looking for Investment professionals in the European market and beyond. Emmanuelle is a native French speaker and has worked with a number of high-profile Investment funds both in London and globally. She brings a personalised approach to search, by building rapport and trust with clients and candidates, and working with them to find the best cultural fit and cut out the nonsense.

She holds a BA in International Relations/Trade from Tufts University and an MA in Public Relations from Richmond, The American International University in London. Before settling in London, Emmanuelle grew up between Paris, San Francisco and Boston.

Outside of work, she enjoys going to contemporary art exhibitions and trying out Japanese authentic cuisine!

Melissa Akers

Melissa is a Consultant at Nebula and is part of the Alternative Investments team. Melissa joined Nebula following a years’ experience in a Mayfair based Wealth Management fund. Melissa holds two degrees from the University of Manchester, a BSc in Business Management and an MSc in International Business Management.

She has recently returned to her role as Consultant at Nebula, following the birth of her son. Melissa’s role now focuses on maintaining existing relationships with funds as well as originating new relationships within the Private Equity and Alternative Investments space. In her free time, she loves eating out and honing her cooking skills!
